LAYTON, Utah — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has officially announced the location for its planned Layton Utah Temple.

The site sits on 11.8 acres at the corner of Oak Hills Drive and Rosewood Lane in Layton City close to Highway 89.

The proposed temple will be the second temple in Davis County, after the Bountiful Temple.

The Bountiful Temple sits on an 9-acre lot. Pres. Howard W. Hunter dedicated the Bountiful Temple in 1995.

In April, Layton Councilwoman Joy Petro told KSL the proposed temple will fill “a gap” for members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints living in the area.

The temple could serve members of the Church in Kaysville, Fruit Heights, Clearfield, and other surrounding communities.

The church says that detailed design plans for the temple are still being developed and will be revealed later.

Utah currently has 17 operating temples. The Church announced three additional temples in Saratoga Springs, the Tooele Valley, and Washington County.
