Salt Lake City —┬áThe University of Utah is announcing the retirement of its Police Chief Dale Brophy. This comes just nine months after the murder of Lauren McCluskey on campus.

The McCluskey’s have called for Brophy’s firing in the months after she was killed. They also filed a lawsuit last month against the University where Chief Brophy was named for leading a force the McCluskeys called “unaccredited, untrained, unconcerned and unresponsive” to reports of sexual abuse of domestic violence.

The University and Brophy say the departure was a mutual decision. Brophy has been with the University of Utah police department since 20-13. His last day will be on October 15 of this year.
