Springville — An out of control campfire scorches the mountains above Springville for the past two days. Firefighters are working to secure the southern and northern perimeters of the Round Peak Fire.

The fire is currently about 40 percent contained and approximately 235 acres in size. Despite the favorable weather conditions, Forest Service Spokesperson Kim Osborne says that crews still have plenty to watch out for.

She says the crews are told every morning to watch each other’s backs while they’re on the steep, treacherous terrain surrounding this fire.

The Bonneville trail is still closed while crews continue their work in the Springville area.
