EMIGRATION CANYON, Utah — Fire officials issued a mandatory evacuation last night that has been lifted Tuesday morning according to Unified Fire. That fire had displaced the residents of about 10 homes in Emigration Canyon.

The fire started on Monday afternoon near the top of the canyon is burning about 10 acres. Firefighters have been fighting the fire throughout the night, and hope to have it contained as early as this afternoon.

Unified Fire Spokesman Ryan Love says even though the fire might not be that big the wind can make fighting it unpredictable and dangerous.

“Fire behavior can be unpredictable sometimes, even though it’s small it could be potentially a bigger problem with the right conditions. We want to make sure people are staying safe,” Love says.

Evacuations were still continuing to be enforced Tuesday morning preventing residents from returning to their homes.

Firefighters are currently trying to get a better map of the blaze, but officials say the likelihood of the fire making a run for homes is low.
