SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Prosecutors have filed criminal charges against a former small-town fire chief accused of failing to act on a sexual assault complaint against his son.

The Desert News reports that 62-year-old Scott Corry was charged Wednesday with obstructing justice and official misconduct.

Corry was fire chief in Kanosh and also served in the Millard County Sheriff’s Office for 35 years before retiring in October.

His son Austin J. Corry was an assistant fire chief and has been charged with multiple counts of rape and sexual assault in connection with assaults against two women at the fire station.

Prosecutors say a co-worker reported the assaults to Scott Corry, but he took no action and she says she was assaulted again.

No attorney was immediately listed for Scott Corry in court documents.
