SOUTH SALT LAKE — Asiah Mister, a previously missing 12-year-old girl, has been found “safe and well,” according to Gary Keller, executive officer of the South Salt Lake Police Department.

The news came about 11 hours after she was first reported missing by her family.

Early Thursday morning, South Salt Lake Police asked for help locating Asiah, who was reported missing from her home near 3800 S and 965 W last night.

Her grandmother reported her missing after she said Asiah left yesterday afternoon to meet an unknown female friend at a nearby Maverik gas station and didn’t return.

Police reported that her 11-year-old brother was in contact with her around 10 p.m. last night when she said she was on her way home. When she didn’t arrive, her grandmother called the police.

Prior to her finding, police had been canvassing the area near the River Run Condos.

They were able to locate her phone via Wi-Fi near 4600 S and 2930 W but the phone was turned off and the signal was lost.

She was listed as missing and endangered due only to her age, police said.
