SALT LAKE CITY — An additional 19 charges have now been filed against the man accused of killing and burning the body of University of Utah student Mackenzie Lueck, accusing him of being in possession of child pornography.
The Salt Lake County District Attorney’s office filed the additional charges against Ayoola Adisa Ajayi, 31, on Tuesday in Utah’s 3rd District Court.
Charging documents state that investigators who searched Ajayi’s devices found “numerous images of children engaged in sex acts,” mostly of children between the ages of 4 and 8 found on Ajayi’s phones and laptop.
Videos, pictures and social media postings were all part of the evidence investigators have compiled in the case covering everything from social media accounts to thousands of photos.
In addition to the 19 new charges filed this week, Ajayi also faces charges of aggravated murder, aggravated kidnapping, desecration of a human body, and obstruction of justice.
Lueck disappeared on June 17 after returning to Salt Lake from a trip to her home state of California to attend a funeral. Police say after she landed early that morning, she took a Lyft ride to Hatch Park in North Salt Lake. The Lyft driver told police she met someone there and got into a vehicle without any signs of distress.
Investigators later recovered Lueck’s body 18 days after she initially went missing nearly 80 miles from where she was last seen finding her charred remains a short way off the main road in a shallow grave.
The next court hearing for Ajayi is scheduled for Aug. 26.
