For over 29 years, Primary Children’s Hospital has worked to keep kids safe in our communities. One of their many goals is to keep kids out of the hospital by avoiding preventable injuries. This includes topics ranging from helmet and ATV safety to Spot the Tot vehicle back over prevention.

As we approach the new school year, it’s important to be on the lookout for anyone crossing the road. Each year, on average, 30 pedestrians are killed in Utah and another 785 are hospitalized or treated in an emergency department after being hit. Walking is a great way to be active, but there are some safety rules to follow.

Always cross at corners using traffic signals or marked crosswalks. Before crossing, stop, look left, then right, then left again. Make eye contact with drivers before crossing in front of them. To learn more about pedestrian safety, visit primarychildrens.org/safety.

SelectHealth recognizes the caring impact of Primary Children’s Hospital as another example of how Utah Gives Back.
