TOOELE, Utah — A 1,000-acre fire continues to burn out of control in Tooele County.

The Green Ravine Fire started around 1 p.m. Tuesday afternoon according to North Tooele Fire District spokesman Jon Smith and it quickly grew to the 1,000-acre blaze that is now burning east of Lake Point. Officials say it is still 0% contained.

“When you see that much smoke in the air and a fire grow that quickly catches your attention,” Smith said.

Currently, there are no homes that are threatened by the blaze but some communication towers atop Farnsworth Peak could be in danger with changes in the weather.

Multiple agencies have responded to fight the fire as well as aircraft from the Utah National Guard.

Firefighters believe that this fire was human-caused.
