SAN FRANCISCO – A Utah woman named Kim is one of 14 women suing rideshare company Lyft, saying it does not do enough to protect riders from drivers who sexually assault passengers.
Kim says she was attacked after hailing a ride in Salt Lake City.
“He reached over [and] did grab me around my neck forcefully and tried to kiss me,” Kim says.
The women say Lyft knew about the problems as early as 2015 but did nothing.
The complaint was filed this week in San Francisco Superior Court.
“I’m overwhelmed with grief by Lyft’s negligence to keep its riders safe. I’m demanding change to prevent further trauma to our community,” Kim said during a press conference in San Francisco announcing the lawsuit.
Lyft has denied the allegations but says it now offers a panic button for passengers and has updated its safety policies.
