RIVERDALE, Utah (AP) — A report on a 2017 plane crash that killed four people says the pilot lost control before the aircraft went down on the median of Interstate 15 shortly after takeoff.

The National Transportation Safety Board factual report released this month doesn’t conclude what caused the July 26, 2017, crash in Riverdale but listed “loss of control in flight” as a defining event in the crash.

It also said the estimated weight of the plane and its occupants and baggage was slightly above the maximum gross weight recorded two years before the crash.

NTSB spokesman Terry Williams told the Standard-Examiner that the NTSB later this year will likely release a final report with a cause determination.

Those killed were Weber County residents Perry and Sarah Huffaker and Layne and Diana Clarke.
