LAYTON, Utah — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released renderings for the Layton Utah Temple.

In a statement from the church, they say this release comes as project leaders are preparing to file additional public documents.

Plans call for a 3 story 87,000 square foot building at the corner of Oak Hills Drive and Rosewood Lane near Highway 89.

The site sits on 11.8 acres at the corner of Oak Hills Drive and Rosewood Lane in Layton City close to Highway 89 and will be the second temple in Davis County, after the Bountiful Temple.

Utah currently has 17 operating temples in Utah with 5 more announced, the latest came this last weekend during the faith’s 189th semiannual conference.

During that conference, in which two more temples in Utah were announced, church president Russell M. Nelson said, “As the Church grows, more temples will be built so that more families can have access to that greatest of all blessings, that of eternal life.”

The church says the temple groundbreaking will take place on May 30, 2020.
