SALT LAKE CITY — The list of services that would be subject to new sales taxes in Utah, has shrunk in the latest proposal from the Utah State Legislature.
Small business owners protested and the public has continued to speak out as the bill keeps changing.
These things are now off the list to be taxed include photography, tour operators, sports and recreation and yoga instruction, driving schools, language schools, and tutoring.
Earlier this year the proposed tax bill would have taxed almost every service besides health care and real estate.
In this latest revision services that are still in the bill include streaming media, ride-hailing like Uber, landscaping, towing, parking garages, tanning and dating services, and pet boarding.
Lawmakers say they are trying to look at whether the services are things that are really required, or optional for people.
