SALT LAKE CITY — This has been quite a season for the Utes, and they aren’t finished yet.

According to both the AP and Coaches polls released this weekend the Utes have moved up to the 5th spot in the nation. That’s the team’s highest-ranking place since 2015 when they were third.

This surge in the polls has come after Utah beat up Colorado on Saturday to lock up the Pac-12 South, and Alabama lost and dropped in the rankings.

This means the Utes are all one step closer to a potential spot in the playoffs. Those rankings come out Tuesday.

Coming up

On Friday night, The U goes against Oregon in the Pac 12 championship game. And they will be watching other championship games closely, like Georgia vs LSU.

Then the committee reveals final decisions on selection Sunday.

Right now Sporting News is projecting Utah will lose to Ohio State on December 28 in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl.
