EAGLE MOUNTAIN, Utah — Facebook is expanding its data center in Eagle Mountain by an additional 500,000 square feet.
The expansion announced Wednesday says that the new data center will be nearly 1.5 million square feet and support over 200 jobs.
Ground was broken on the site in 2018 and Facebook says that so far, they have poured over 41,000 yards of concrete and incorporated over 7,000 tons of steel.
“Nearly two million hours of work have gone into the site and at peak, there will be approximately 1250 construction workers on site. We anticipate with this expansion this data center will represent an investment of more than $1 billion and, once completed, the Eagle Mountain Data Center will support over 200 jobs,” they said in a news release.
They also expect the entire facility to run on 100% renewable energy.
