TAYLORSVILLE, Utah — A woman is in custody under suspicion of impairment after a crash late Monday that killed one man and critically injured another, according to Unified Police.

According to the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office, 39-year-old Andrea Lane Miller was booked for Automobile Homicide Negligence-DUI of Alcohol, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Carrying a Dangerous Weapon Under the Influence of Alcohol, Failure to Remain at Accident Involving Death and Traffic Control Signal Violations.

The accident happened at the intersection of 2700 West and 4700 South.

Unified Police Det. Ken Hansen said a vehicle traveling west on 4700 South crashed into another vehicle traveling south on 2700 West. He says the impact was so significant that it moved the southbound vehicle between 150 – 200 feet down the road.

Hansen says the female driver of the westbound vehicle was taken into custody under suspicion of being impaired.

Officials believe that both speed and impairment played an issue in the crash.

Unified Police is waiting for next of kin notification before releasing the name of the man who was killed.
