SALT LAKE CITY — A BIG winter storm is coming in with the New Year.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Wednesday from 5 am to 11 pm and KSL Meteorologist Grant Weyman says that we’ll probably see some accumulation.

“No doubt this is some shovel material on the way,” said KSL Meteorologist Grant Weyman. “We think several inches of snow.”

“We are talking much of the day for New Year’s Day,” said Weyman.

Weyman says the storm could bring 4 to 8 inches for the valleys, 5 to 10 for the benches, and 10 to 20 in the northern mountains before it is all over.

The National Weather Service of Salt Lake City says the storm system could last through Thursday as well.

Tuesday, New Year’s Eve, is cold and dry ahead of that storm system. If you are going out to celebrate, it will be 23 degrees at midnight.
