OGDEN, Utah — Police say they found an Ogden couple dead inside their home after responding to a welfare check.
Some neighbors say they hadn’t seen the man and woman for weeks, while others say it’s been months. They believe the couple were in their 60’s and said they tended to be extremely reclusive.
One of the neighbors across the street, Lori Rodriguez, says the home had a horrible smell coming from inside. The next-door neighbor confirmed and said conversation was starting to circulate about what people were seeing inside the home.
“Dead dogs and cats, cats everywhere,” said Rodriguez. “Cockroaches.”
She believes the couple was living for months without utilities because they were behind on payments.
“I don’t know how they got through summer and winter with no water, no utilities at all,” she said.
Police confirmed the Ogden couple were found dead in their home, but were not releasing identities until the next of kin could be notified.
In a Facebook post, Ogden Police noted that “no indication of foul play” was found after discovering the bodies.
Nobody on the street seemed particularly surprised by the news, claiming there was always something “odd” about the residents.
“It’s kind of weird, kind of like The ‘Burbs,” Rodriguez said. “A lot of cats.”
Ogden Police say this is still an ongoing investigation.
