SALT LAKE CITY — University of Utah football player Terrell Perriman has been booked into the Salt Lake County Jail, accused of rape, kidnapping and enticing a minor, according to police.

Salt Lake City Police will be speaking with reporters at 1 pm.

According to the probable cause statement filed by police, the victim was 17-years-old. Police say she met Perriman, a wide receiver, on social media.

According to police, the teen told them she exchanged Instagram and Snapchat messages with Perriman. She also alleges he sent inappropriate photos and video and encouraged her to send him nude photos.

Police say the victim agreed to meet the Utah football player at his apartment, but became scared after noticing a Taser in the room. She claimed she asked repeatedly to leave, and was told no, then physically forced back into the room when she tried to exit.  He also reportedly took her cell phone, so she wasn’t able to call anyone.

Investigators can’t be certain, but they say they have reason to suspect there may be other victims out there.

Detective Greg Wilking says, “In cases like these, there are often other victims.  So, we want to put out that if there are any other victims, we have resources that are available.”

In a statement, Utah football coach Kyle Whittingham said Perriman “was immediately suspended from all team activities” as soon as the team became aware of the accusations against him.
