PAYSON, Utah — Police in Payson say the driver of a truck involved in a hit and run that injured a boy walking on the sidewalk came forward.

The boy was taken to the hospital in serious condition Wednesday afternoon.

Police say the nine-year-old boy was walking on the sidewalk near 100 East and 800 South in Payson when the hit and run happened.

Witnesses said a truck came up onto the sidewalk and hit the boy, but did not stop. It continued east on the sidewalk and turned south on Canyon Road.

Officers say it was a newer, white Chevy truck with four doors. There was some type of decal on the driver and passenger doors.

They requested homeowners along Canyon Road to check their video surveillance devices between 4:30 and 4:50 p.m. on Wednesday. By late Thursday afternoon, police said that driver had come forward.
