SALT LAKE CITY — Utah authorities are promoting new online workshops to help people who have temporarily lost their jobs because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Utah Department of Workforce Services is producing 2 daily virtual workshops to provide information to workers.

The workshops are held every weekday at 10 am and 2 pm and last 30 to 45 minutes. They are scheduled through April 10, or longer if needed.

It has all the information on how to apply for unemployment, how to get temporary financial assistance, and tips for finding a new job.

On a national level, the emergency relief bill passed by the Senate includes a provision that would raise unemployment benefits up to $600 dollars a week, for up to 4 months.

These benefits will also be available to furloughed employees, freelancers, and gig workers.

And small businesses will get a boost, with loans up 10 million dollars that will be forgiven — as long as they pay employees during the entire crisis.
