Utah’s number of deaths from COVID-19 jumps to 8

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah health officials say 1,428 people in the state have tested positive so far for COVID-19 or coronavirus, with a total of eight deaths to date.

That’s according to the latest numbers released by the Utah Department of Health on Saturday.

According to health department numbers, that’s an increase of 182 new cases from Friday. Of the 1,428 positive test results, 117 required hospitalization to date.

There was no immediate word on the patient who died, including any information about where they live or their age or health conditions.
