Updated numbers from the Utah Department of Health show an increase in confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state, as well as more hospitalizations related to the virus.

As of Sunday, there are 1,605 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Utah, with 124 of those cases hospitalized. There have been a total of 30,892 Utahns tested for the virus, putting the rate of confirmed cases at 5% — a number that has held steady over the past weeks.

The number of confirmed cases increased by nearly 200 from Saturday, which confirmed 1,428 cases. The state also saw seven new hospitalizations related to the virus over the weekend.

The numbers reported from the UDOH showing hospitalizations represents the cases that were diagnosed with the virus and then admitted to the hospital — not counting the COVID-19 cases currently in the hospital.

Of those, there are 167 hospitalization cases under investigation, according to UDOH’s website.
