SALT LAKE CITY — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints postponed its “For the Strength of Youth” (FSY) conferences, scheduled for 2020 in the United States and Canada, to 2021 instead.
In an update to the church’s website, church leaders said registration fees will be refunded to those who have already paid.
“Stakes invited to attend FSY conferences in 2020 will now attend in 2021,” the church said in a statement on the site.
The statement continued that the decision on whether to hold youth conferences outside of the U.S. and Canada will be up to area presidencies.
“These decisions will be made in accordance with COVID-19 guidelines established by governments in their communities and countries,” the statement said.
“All leaders should continue to abide by the direction given March 12, 2020, by the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles—namely, that all public gatherings of Church members, including branch, ward, and stake activities, are temporarily suspended worldwide,” church leaders advised.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints made a number of adjustments to its plans in the last few weeks. Those included a digital-only general conference at the beginning of April, bringing missionaries home from overseas, closing church historic sites and suspending large gatherings, including worship services.
