Church will donate $5.5 Million to COVID-19 relief centers

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced it will donate $5.5 million to five COVID-19 relief centers. 

In a news release, church leaders said the faith is contributing to 280 relief projects related to the pandemic in over 80 countries. 

The five relief centers receiving aid from the church include: 

Convoy of Hope, based in Springfield, Ill., which distributes meals and relief supplies.
Feeding America, based in Chicago, a nationwide network of food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters.
Partnership With Native Americans, based in Addison, Texas, will distribute food, water, and personal health products to reservations, mostly in the West.
The Salvation Army, based in Alexandria, Va., will provide food, personal protective equipment, and hygiene items around the United States.
United Way, also based in Alexandria, supports a variety of relief efforts around the nation.

In the release, church officials said they are giving “food, hygiene products, personal protective equipment, medical equipment, cash, and other commodities” to these projects.
