Janet Carson with Wasatch County Fire says they are concerned with the number of fires they’ve seen in the area, and are grateful for those in the community that helped identify a suspect.

“We’re concerned this is happening and we want to investigate it thoroughly,” Carson told KSL.

“We appreciate those who assisted in alerting us to the suspicious activity and the quick work of the law enforcement officers and dispatchers that ultimately resulted in the apprehension of the suspect,” she added.

Carson said  if anyone knows something that may aid the investigation, they should call their tip line at 435-654-WCSO.

Impacts of the fire

Crews evacuated several homes in the area and requested additional resources.

Officials put out a reminder about drone flights near wildfires after someone reported seeing a drone in the area. Flying drones near wildfires is against the law.

Utah State Parks officials say that the fire forced them to close Wasatch Mountain State Park as well as the Dutch Hollow Trail System.
