NEW ZEALAND — Saturday, June 13, Pacific Area President of The The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Elder Ian S. Ardern along with other Church leaders and several guests broke ground to officially start construction of the Auckland New Zealand Temple.

“For members of the Church, temples are the most holy of our places of worship,” Elder Ardern said.

Inviting Church members to spiritually prepare for when the temple opens he said, “We fervently and desperately encourage all to become and remain worthy to enter the temple.”

“The temple will be a beautiful, bright light in the city of Auckland, inviting all to come unto Christ,” he said.

The temple is set to open in approximately three years.

The groundbreaking proceedings for the Auckland New Zealand Temple will be made available online on Sunday, June 14 at 6 pm NZST at Pacific.ChurchofJesusChrist.org

Across Aotearoa-New Zealand there are 288 congregations of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
