Knolls Fire Update: Evacuation order lifted but still possible, only 25% contained

The Knolls Fire in Saratoga Springs has forced the evacuation of over 3,100 homes and about 1/3 the population of the city. (Chopper 5, KSL)

SARATOGA SPRING, Utah — Residents evacuated due to the Knolls Fire are allowed to return home but the possibility of being evacuated again is still a possibility. Redwood Road still closed going south at Habor Parkway.

The Knolls Fire, which was sparked by lightning has burned 10,000 acres and is still 25% contained as of Mondy.

Boyd-Peak said that between 200 to 250 people have been working on the fire line, including hotshot crews, engines and air support. She said that weather conditions grounded air support Sunday, but hoped the weather would allow that support today.
Knolls Fire evacuations remain in place
Dave Johnson, public information officer for Saratoga Springs, said that the current evacuation order issued to over 3,100 homes and one-third of the population at Saratoga Springs on Sunday would still be in effect on Monday morning.

Part of the reason for this, Johnson said, is that in addition to the fire threat, downed power lines and other hazards need to be assessed.

Johnson said the fire destroyed one home outside city limits, 12 homes sustained fire damage, and 18 homes lost fences.

Evacuation still in place. No timeline on return. Crews accessing powerlines and other potential hazards. Reported thus far:
