Update: 4 dead after plane crash near Box Elder Peak, Tibble Fork Reservoir

UTAH COUNTY — Four people are confirmed dead after a plane crash near Box Elder Peak in Utah County, just above Granite Flat campgrounds. There are no current reports on whether it caused a brush fire nearby. 

Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Spencer Cannon said there were four people on board the plane. In a tweet shortly after reporting the initial accident, he confirmed all four died in the plane crash near Box Elder Peak and Tibble Fork Reservoir. 

Information on where the plane came from or where it was heading is not yet clear, Cannon said Friday. 

Crews are currently working to get to the crash site to assess.
