Multiple wildfires burning across Utah

SALT LAKE CITY — Multiple large wildfires have been reported by Utah Fire Info Tuesday. The largest of them was started by fireworks. 

Turkey Farm Road Fire

According to Utah Fire Info, the Turkey Farm Road Fire has been burning since 9:10 p.m. on Monday night and crews have been working all day to put it out. 

The wildfire is burning 3 miles west of Washington City in Washington County and has been estimated to be over 1662 acres in size. 

Investigators have determined that it was human-caused and that fireworks ignited the fire. 

No matter what time of year, fireworks are never allowed in the area where the fire was ignited, according to Utah Fire Info.

The fire closed down many roads including Turkey Track Rd., Danish Ranch Rd., BLM Road 901, Winchester Trail Road, Icehouse Trail, Yellow Knolls Trail, Black Gulch Trail, Middleton Trail, and Mesa Rim Trail.

A red flag warning was put into effect today in the area where the wildfire was burning and only a few homes in Green Springs were evacuated. It is reported by Utah Fire Info that those evacuees should be returning home soon.

Investigators are still trying to find the individuals responsible for starting the fire. The suspects are three teenage males who were seen driving a white sedan on Cottonwood Road around 9 p.m. on July 13.

They are asking for the public’s help in identifying the individuals and to contact 435-704-4456 with any information.

The Allen Fire

This fire in Daggett County near the Utah-Colorado State line was caused by lighting and estimated to be 75-100 acres in size and several structures were threatened.

The fire is reported by Utah Fire Info to be on steep terrain and burning through timber.

Mountain Home Fire

In Weber County near the Coldwater trailhead, the Mountain Home fire is burning and was last estimated to be 30 acres in size.

The cause of this fire is still under investigation. 

Big Summit Fire

This fire originated in Nevada but has burned its way into Iron County, Utah growing to 1734 acres in size.

Officials say the fire was reported at about 10:45 a.m. Monday but the cause is still unknown. 

All residents in Hamlin Valley are being evacuated at this time.
