WEST JORDAN, Utah — Amazon announced on Friday that it plans to hire 1,500 new full-time positions ahead of the launch of their newest fulfillment center in West Jordan.
The online retailer says the new positions will help expedite shipping throughout Utah and the western US.
“We are thrilled to begin hiring for this fulfillment center particularly because we are launching a brand new service for customers here in Utah,” Site Leader Ben Anderson said in a news release.
“Associates will pick, pack, and ship large items such as bulk cleaning supplies and paper goods, pet food and supplies, patio furniture, baby strollers, and outdoor sports equipment like kayaks, skis, and fishing gear. This is the first building of this type in Amazon’s Utah operations which means customers will be able to get large items that much faster.”
Amazon says the new West Jordan positions will focus on receiving inventory, picking and shipping customer orders, and supporting network logistics.
Last year, Amazon officially opened a new fulfillment center in northwestern Salt Lake City
The internet giant says candidates must be 18 years or older and have a high school diploma or equivalent to be considered and can apply online.
