FARMINGTON, Utah– A psychological evaluation has been ordered for the Utah man who allegedly stabbed his Tinder date to death. The evaluation will determine a diagnosis for a person’s psychology, behavior, and/or personality.

Ethan Hunsaker, 24, pleaded not guilty in the May 24 death of Ashlyn Black. In June, the lawyer for Ethan Hunsaker said he’s planning to get a psychological evaluation done on his client.

Judge David Connors approved this motion, submitted July 20, by Hunsaker’s attorney requesting Hunsaker be examined while in custody at the Davis County Jail. The psychological evaluation ordered requires Hunsaker and licensed clinicians to meet inside the jail.

Authorities reported Black and Hunsaker met through the dating app Tinder and decided to meet in person for drinks. Police later found Black on Hunsaker’s floor suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Court records show Hunsaker called the police and said he choked and stabbed Black at his apartment in Layton. First responders tried to resuscitate her but was pronounced dead at the scene.
