SALT LAKE CITY — Multiple agencies drove through two Utah counties Sunday afternoon in pursuit of a shooting suspect. In the end, officials had to shut down a portion of SR 189 near Deer Creek Reservoir.

The Wasatch County Sheriff’s office said the pursuit started after the suspect, Jason D. Hare, shot a man in Roosevelt. Officials say it’s possible Hare also shot himself in the arm before fleeing in a stolen vehicle.

Sheriff’s deputies caught up with Hare on Highway 40 in the Daniel Canyon area, which is where the chase began.

From there, deputies from the Sheriff’s office, Heber City Police, the U.S. Forest Service and Utah State Parks were all involved in trying to stop the suspect. Officials say Dare crashed the vehicle near milepost 23.

He was then safely taken into custody.

The victim shot in Roosevelt is reportedly in stable condition and receiving medical treatment. The shooting suspect is hospitalized in Utah County and will be transferred to jail when possible.
