SYRACUSE, Utah — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced the location of the Syracuse Utah Temple.

In an announcement made Friday morning, the church said the new temple will be built on a 12-acre site located at the intersection of 2500 West and 1025 South in Syracuse.

The church says they are planning on building an 89,000 square foot three-story building. Renderings of the building and a groundbreaking date have not yet been released.

The Syracuse Utah temple will be the third temple in Davis County after the Bountiful (dedicated in 1995) and Layton (groundbreaking happened in May).

Renderings for the Layton Utah temple were released in January and plans call for a 3-story 87,000 square foot building to be built at the corner of Oak Hills Drive and Rosewood Lane near Highway 89.

There are currently 24 temples announced, under construction or in operation in Utah.

“Each temple is considered a ‘house of the Lord’ where Jesus Christ’s teachings are reaffirmed through baptism and other ordinances that unite families for eternity,” the church states on their website. “In the temple, Church members learn more about the purpose of life and make covenants to follow Jesus Christ and serve their fellow man.”
