SALT LAKE CITY — A car reported stolen in Oregon was spotted on eastbound Interstate 80 by West Wendover police on Saturday, and with the help of the Utah Highway Patrol (UHP) and the Bureau of Indian affairs, the car was stopped and a suspect was captured.

West Wendover police contacted UHP around 11:42 a.m.

UHP Corporal Colton Freckleton says they were able to spike a tire at milepost 23 on eastbound I-80, but the car continued to flee. Freckleton said that after the tire was spiked, the car had slowed to around 65 mph.

According to KSL.com, the car traveled fifty more miles on I-80 until the Bureau of Indian Affairs stepped in and spiked two more tires at milepost 73. That’s when the driver gave up.

Freckelton says two men, ages 23 and 48, were inside the vehicle. They were arrested without incident.
