Suspect in custody in South Salt Lake homicide

SOUTH SALT LAKE — South Salt Lake has confirmed to KSL there has been a homicide near Cordelia and 200 East in South Salt Lake City. Police say they have a suspect in custody.
Police say that the victim was responding to a mental health welfare check where they were then stabbed by the person they came to support. A police spokeswoman said they are currently working to identify the victim and notify their family.
They say there is no threat to the public, no charges have been filed but a 70-year-old resident is in custody.
