SALT LAKE CITY — A homeless man has been charged with attempted murder in connection to a stabbing in Holladay on Aug. 22.

Third district court documents say Daimen Mikel, age 25, also faces a count of aggravated burglary. Both counts are first-degree felonies.

On August 22, Unified Police responded to a call at 4635 S. Locust Lane in Holladay, where they found the 58-year-old homeowner bleeding of multiple stab wounds.

The stabbing was preceded by yelling and arguing according to Unified Police Detective Kevin Mallory.

According to KSL.com, the homeowner had hired the homeless man to help him pack boxes. Once at the home, the homeowner said Mikel stabbed him multiple times.

Mikel was arrested the next day when Unified Fire officials saw a man that matched the suspect’s description.

Unified Police say the suspect was injured as well and required hospitalization. He was booked into the Salt Lake County jail upon his release from the hospital.
