SALT LAKE CITY — A heated exchange on the Taylorsville High School gridiron led to more heated words in the locker room.

Taylorsville was hosting Cyprus High School on Friday night.  Unified Police say a fight broke out on the field after a flagrant foul was called against Cyprus in the last 30 seconds of the game.

Sgt. Melody Cutler said that Granite School District administrators and resource officers affiliated with Unified Police broke up the fight on the field and took the players into the locker room.

Culter says that’s where another fight broke out. Later, police say people were trying to get into the school.

“Approximately 50 to 75 family members and other students were pounding on the school doors, trying to get into the school,” Sgt. Cutler said.

Cutler says that at that point, more Unified officers arrived to keep the peace.

There are no reports of injuries, and an investigation continues.
