SALT LAKE CITY– The Salt Lake City Fire Department (SLCFD) is still working to put out the fire that is burning above Popperton Park near the University of Utah.
As of Tuesday, the Connecticut Fire is 15% contained and has covered 32 acres. According to Utah Fire Info, the start of the fire was human-caused and is under investigation.
Two mandatory evacuations have been lifted but 12 homes remain on a precautionary pre-evacuation notice.
Salt Lake City Fire Department (SLCFD) is responding to a fire near the University of Utah and Red Butte Gardens.
Responders report a large grass fire right above Popperton Park. Airdrops are in progress. Authorities have also requested Wildland assistance at this time.
The fire is estimated at 10 acres and two homes have been evacuated.
