SALT LAKE CITY  – Governor Gary Herbert has ordered the lowering of the flag of the United States of America and the flag of the State of Utah on Saturday, Sept 19. 2020, following the death of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Governor Herbert sent out a statement this morning calling Ginsburg a force of nature with a keen intellect and a tremendous work ethic.
“She was a true pioneer in every sense. Justice Ginsburg gave tireless service well beyond retirement age and had a tremendous impact on our nation. Jeanette and I send our sincere condolences to her family,” he said.
Politically, her passing is already stirring up a storm between some republicans who want President Trump to appoint her replacement immediately and some Democrats, like former vice president Biden who believe the appointment and Senate confirmation hearings should come after November’s presidential election.
