Murray remote learning...

Murray High School will transition to a remote-learning class schedule after surpassing the 15-case count threshold, the school district announced Sunday.

MURRAY, Utah — Murray High School will transition to a remote-learning class schedule after reaching the 15-case count threshold, the school district announced Sunday. The school will begin online classes Monday, continuing until Oct. 19.

The school will then review the number of active cases to determine whether students can return to in-person classes.

“Unfortunately, despite our very best efforts, Murray High School has reached the COVID-19 15-case threshold and will pivot to digital home learning,” the school said in a statement. “We want to reassure you that our school staff and teachers have been working hard to provide a safe environment for our students, however, while we continue to do everything we can at our school, we need your help and support to ensure our students and staff can remain healthy and stay safe.”

The school will conduct online classes through Zoom with students following their regular schedules.

However, Murray High will still provide grab-and-go meals for students every day. These will be available through curbside pickup for both breakfast and lunch.

Extracurricular activities — such as performing arts, sports and other scheduled competitions — will resume as scheduled, according to the school. However, spectators will be restricted allowing only parents to attend.

Face masks and social distancing will be required for all activities that continue to meet over the two-week period.

Teams or groups with three or more positive COVID cases must quarantine until classes return in-person Oct. 19.

The school encourages students to adhere to public health guidelines throughout the two-week period. This includes avoiding large gatherings, wearing face masks in public and social distancing whenever possible.

“The safety and education of our students are our top priority,” the school said. “We are doing everything we can in facilitating both as we balance health department guidelines with continued student learning.”

We want to hear from you.
