Ute coach Kyle Whittingham signs 4-year extension through 2027

SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Utes Athletic Department has announced a contract extension with high profile football coach Kyle Whittingham. The decision comes days before the Utes are set to start the already delayed season. 

Entering his 16th season as Utah’s top coach, Whittingham signed a contract extension on Wednesday to be with the Utes through 2027. According to KSL.com, the change will add four more years to Whittingham’s current contract which was first extended in May 2019That extension took Whittingham’s contract through the 2023 season.

KSL.com reports Whittingham will be making “a base salary of $1,375,000 this year, with a clause to increase by $75,000 each year.”

Additionally, KSL.com also reports that Whittingham also receives a salary based on radio and television revenue, appearance and speaking fees, the university’s outfitter agreement and other bonus items.
