SALT LAKE CITY — Winter sports are going to look a little different this season with COVID-19 restrictions.
Every ski area in Utah will adopt the NSAA guidelines and follow state and CDC recommendations for a safe winter sports season during COVID-19. Each ski resort in Utah will have its own ticketing and operations procedures to create a protected environment.
COVID-19 safety standards for winter sports in Utah
Face coverings are required
Face coverings aligning with CDC recommendations are required at all 15 ski areas when social distancing cannot be achieved. This includes both indoor and outdoor interactions but excludes eating or drinking.
Physical distancing
The Utah ski areas are creating operational plans specific to each resort to ensure people stay properly distanced while enjoying winter sports during COVID-19. According to Ski Utah, this includes but is not limited to “lift queues, ticket queues, ski and snowboard lessons, employee spaces and food and beverage outlets.”
Cleaning and disinfection
The ski areas are adopting new operations to accommodate the disinfection of high-touch areas. Some of these areas include restrooms, restaurants, dining facilities, ticket offices and rental shops. All cleaning products used will follow CDC and EPA guidance on agents to be used.
