SALT LAKE CITY — The annual ZooLights event hosted at the Hogle Zoo will be open to the public for free this season, the zoo announced Friday. This comes after a grant funded by the Utah Legislature through the Utah Division of Arts and Museums.

“After a difficult year, Utah families can come visit the lights that gleam while animals dream – free of charge,” the zoo said in a staement.

The event will be open Dec. 4 through Jan. 3 with nightly visits from Santa, who will be available for socially-distant photos. The park will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas.

Masks will be required and all indoor spaces — including indoor eateries – will be closed. However, concessions will be available through walk-up windows throughout the park.

Patrons must reserve ZooLights tickets ahead of time through the zoo’s website.
