A new survey says some Utahns would be willing to pay to jump the line and get a Covid-19 vaccine.
Would you jump the line for the vaccine?
MyBioSource.com did a survey to find out how much people would be willing to pay. MyBioSource.com said its poll shows the average Utahn would hypothetically spend $429 to jump to first in line for the vaccine. That’s lower than the national average of $460.
Oklahomans said they are prepared to spend the most: $936. South Dakotans are prepared to spend the least, at $279, to get the vaccine first.
MyBioSource is a biotechnological products distribution company. Its survey polled 4,428 people ages 18 and older.
Supply and demand
Two vaccines by Pfizer and Moderna are seeking emergency approval from the FDA. Pfizer expects to be first to get authorization this month. It expects to produce enough to vaccinate about 12.5 million Americans by the end of 2020. That’s only 3.7% of the US population.
On Tuesday, a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) panel was meeting to possibly vote on who would be first in line to get the vaccine.
The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices is an outside group of medical experts that advises the CDC.
On Monday’s Dave and Dujanovic Show, the hosts discussed whether the order of distribution should be by profession or by age group or other risk factors. Listen to that below.
