SALT LAKE CITY —  Thirteen puppies and two people were aboard a cargo van traveling on Highway 6 near Price early Friday morning when the van crashed.

Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Bret Bennett told KSL that the crash happened around 2 a.m.

The van was transporting puppies between Texas and Oregon, where they were slated for adoption.

“We believe fatigue played a part [in the crash],” said Bennett. The vehicle reportedly left the road and skidded alongside a fence for about 200 feet before crashing through the fence and ending up on its side on an embankment.

The driver reportedly had minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.

Bennett said the puppies were fine and that none of them were injured. They were taken to Carbon County Animal Shelter and will remain there until the injured driver can pick them up.

Roll over Highway 6, mile marker 240. No patient information.
