SALT LAKE CITY — University of Utah police are searching for two male attackers who are reported to have sexually assaulted someone not affiliated with the university on Wednesday night. According to police, a healthcare worker took the report and submitted it to U Police on behalf of the victim.

The department issued a safety warning on Thursday after a University of Utah healthcare worker reported the crime just after midnight.

“The victim was on their way to meet someone on campus and reported that two unidentified males approached from behind a dumpster and proceeded to sexually assault the victim,” the U said.

The exact location of where the victim was assaulted is still unknown.

They said a University Safety crisis support specialist is working with the victim. Currently, police have not released any additional details about the attackers.

Additionally, the U states courtesy escorts (main campus: 801-585-2677; hospital: 8015812294) and the SafeRide program remain available to campus community members if they need it.

Campus police report another update on the situation will occur on Friday unless information becomes available sooner.

Correction: The previous reporting stated a healthcare worker was sexually assaulted when in reality, a U health care employee reported the assault to campus police.
