Community members in Washington County are saving lives by attending suicide prevention trainings offered by the Southwest Behavioral Health Center in St. George. Those who attend learn that depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts can affect anyone and it’s important to be open and direct when talking about suicide. One of the most important things to do is to validate feelings and make sure that all feel heard.

Southwest Behavioral Health Center offers comprehensive mental health and substance abuse treatment services, including outpatient therapy, crisis intervention, respite care, case management, and prevention education. Services are provided without judgement and aim to help people recover from the challenges of mental illness.

Their goal is to help build communities where people enjoy their lives free from the stigma and disability of addiction and mental illness. If you need help or want to sign up for a Mental Health First Aid or Suicide Prevention training, visit REACH4HOPEUtah.org.

SelectHealth recognizes the meaningful work of the Southwest Behavioral Health Center as another example of how Utah Gives Back.
