SALT LAKE CITY — One person was hospitalized after a three-car accident that shut down the northbound lanes of Mountain View Corridor Saturday afternoon.

West Jordan police say the accident happened because one driver ran a red light while traveling west on 9000 South.

“At that red light there were two vehicles traveling northbound on Mountain View that made contact with the vehicle that ran the red light,” said Jennifer Worthen with West Jordan police.

The passengers inside the two vehicles traveling on Mountain View sustained only minor injuries, according to police. But the driver that police say ran the red light was transported to Intermountain Medical by ambulance.

“She was issued a citation for running the red light,” Worthen told KSL.

Everyone involved was wearing a seat belt, police said.  Traffic on the northbound lanes of Mountain View Corridor was impacted for a short period of time.
