SALT LAKE CITY– Residents around 4th Avenue and Canyon Road are being advised to shelter in place due to crews hitting an unmarked natural gas line.

The Salt Lake City Department of Public Utilities said contractors were working in the area when workers accidentally nicked the gas line.

Authorities are responding to the scene near 200 North. Dominion Energy has shut off the gas line in order to make repairs. Canyon Road is now open to traffic, but crews ask people to stay away from the area while they work on fixing the problem.
